Woody BIRCKHEAD (51) wrote August 24:  Thank you Elaine. So
good to hear from you. You are doing a great job in helping Lane to
keep going. I am Woody Birckhead, Class of nineteen fifty one, but
went to fight in the Korean War. I graduated from Lane In 1953. I
am doing very well and still enjoying life very much. I currently
live in Granbury, Texas so I decided to skip the reunion as much I
hated to. Hope you will keep me advised on future ones.   God
bless you.

Anne BELT Seawell (51) wrote August 22:  Thank you Elaine for
keeping this up.  Good Job!  I live in Wilmington, don’t travel any
more.  My husband Ted passed 5/14/20, not a Lane student.
My sister passed 6/15/21 – Beverley BELT McCauley (53).

Barry DUNSMORE (64) wrote August 22: I can’t make the reunion
as I have a vacation in TN at that time.  Sounds like it will be
GREAT Fun.  Thanks for all you do keeping things going.

Bet ROSS Taylor (62) wrote august 22, 2022: Thank you for the
newsletter!  Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the reunion
because of back issues which keep me from traveling.  I know it
will be a great event!

Carolyn RAMSEY Noland (64) wrote August 22, 2022: Many thanks
to you and all who give their time to keep Lane alums connected!
You are greatly appreciated.  I don’t recall whether I advised you of
my new address.  I met the love of my life and we were married in
2018, so I am now Carolyn RAMSEY Noland, wife of Rev. Dr. James
Robert Noland (UVA Class of 1969).  I was diagnosed with Acute
Leukemia in 2019, and given weeks to live without immediate
treatment.  I was in UVA Hospital for thirty days to put the
Leukemia in remission.  Then, four months later, I was in UVA
Hospital for another thirty days to receive a Stem Cell Transplant.
All went well and I am back to my active self and completely free
of prescription meds and blood cancers! It will totally depend on
the kickoff time of the UVA football game on the reunion day as to
whether we can attend.  Jim entered UVA on a football scholarship
(QB), so you see why!

Judy SLATER Gough (63) wrote August 23, 2022: Great newsletter!

Jeff THOMPSON (75) wrote August 23, 2022: Thanks very much for
the newsletter.  I attended Lane in 10th and 11th grades, and was in
the first graduating class of CHS in 1975.  I see so much wonderful
activity  on the part of your Lane group, but have never heard
whether there is a similar organization for CHS grads.  Would you
happen to know?  Thanks in advance.

Judy BLANTON Brunger (65) wrote August 23, 2022: Once again,
thank you for all you are doing for this effort.

Rich SEVERIN (64) wrote August 23, 2022: Great job as usual for
keeping up with as many details as possible.  I did not know about
Sherry’s passing – she was my first and very special girlfriend and
will be missed.  I will try to make it to the reunion!

Paula FRANCES (64) wrote August 23: Thank you Elaine. Sorry I
can’t make it this year, but doing well, best wishes to all.  Pauli

Linda HARRIS Johnson (70) wrote August 27, 2022:  Thank you so
much for sending the newsletter.  My husband and I are
considering attending in October.

Sarah MITCHELL Burnet (64)
wrote August 23, 2022: Elaine, so
glad to get this newsletter.  It’s the first one I had gotten in ages.
We are planning to come to the Reunion on October 1st

Sandra DEANE Curtis (64) wrote August 23, 2022: Thank you,
Elaine and all the committee for your hard work and keeping
us connected!  You are the BEST!  Sandy and Bob

Tom MIZELL (64) wrote August 23:  Thank you Elaine!  Hope
you and David are having a good summer.  Tell him Hello
for us.  I am hoping to attend this year.  Wanted to last year
but was a no show as Suzanne was having issues that weekend.

Walter KING (56) wrote August 23:  Many thanks for your
Newsletter.  It is always good to hear from you.

Edna PROFFITT Wood-Jones (54) wrote August 28: Thanks so
much, Elaine….and dedicated committee…..can’t remember
when I’ve missed a reunion….however, my family beach trip
is scheduled during reunion gathering!! I will surely think of
all with many fond memories…and look forward to another
year!

August 30, 2022: My name is Gretchen Tyler McLauglin and
I am BANE TYLER’s (56) daughter. I received information
about the Lane High School class reunion and wanted to let
somebody know that my dad passed away January of this year.
I believe he was in the class of 1956. He talked about Lane
High School a lot and had many fond memories that he
shared with us. I am sorry he did not make it to this reunion.
He would have loved to attend.  God Bless!

On August 31: Just letting everyone know that Larry
COLEMAN (54) passed away on July 15, 2018. Thank you,
Shawn Coleman (Ed. note: our records showed Larry in
Class of 53)

On August 31: I received the recent mailing about the upcoming
Lane High School Reunion.  I’m writing to let you know that my
father, Louis HUNDLEY, class of 1943, passed away this year on
March 26th.  Wishing you all the best at your reunion this year.
I know all of your efforts are appreciated by those who will be
attending.  Thank you, Mary Lou Hunt

September 2: Hello, I am reaching out to you to let you know
that my mother-in-law, Virginia Ellen JONES Gibson (56) passed
away May 15, 2022.  She has been receiving literature about the
reunions for years but due to her Alzheimers condition she was
not able to attend.  I wanted to let you know so that you could
now remove her name from your mailing lists.  Kim Gibson

James Howard SMITH (54) wrote September 2: Sorry, will be in
Canada on vacation on October 1st.  I have great health and
busy always. Jim

September 8, 2022: I recently received a Lane High School Alumni
newsletter from you announcing, among other things, your multi-
class reunion in October. The newsletter was addressed to my
mother  Nancy Fogleman Riedemann. She was a member of
the Lane HS class of 1954. Sadly, I have to report that she passed
away on January 17, 2022. In the few years that she had moved
back to Charlottesville from Virginia Beach, she enjoyed hearing
news about her old classmates and had attended several
reunions held with her class. Unfortunately, soon after moving
back to Charlottesville, she was diagnosed with dementia and
Alzheimers. As her memory failed she was no longer able to
attend reunions. Thank you for continuing to try to communicate
Lane HS news. If you could remove her name from your mailing
list and add her to your list of classmates who have passed on,
I would appreciate it.

Jerry SHOWALTER (58) wrote September 7, 2022 – My brother
Samuel James (Jim) Showalter III died 6/13/21. He was class of
’57.

Keith GARRISON (65) wrote September 7, 2022 – Sorry to miss this
but have another obligation. It was great to see the newsletter –
hope to attend the next one. Also thank you and the committee.
I included a $50.00 donation to help with your cost. Thank you.

Catherine ANGELUS Anninos (56) wrote September 7, 2022 – I
cannot attend but want to help cover expenses! Thanks for keeping
this active!!!

Betty LAMONDS Mawyer (54) – I am unable to attend, but wish to
make a contribution. I’ve been to many reunions and know how
much fun they are. Thanks for all your hard work and I really
enjoy your newsletters. Have fun.

Peter R. Hills (66) wrote September 7, 2022 – Sorry, unable to
attend. Appreciate the newsletter/notice.

Nancy SCHWARTZ Harris (54) wrote August 31, 2022 – Thank you
all for carrying on and keeping Lane High forever alive if only in our
memories!  And what memories they are!! If only “walls” could talk!!
Thank you all.

September 12: Peter Meulyzer (67) wrote:  A few days ago, I was
pleasantly surprised to receive an invitation from you for a reunion
of my high school class next October 1st ! I was an AFS-exchange
student from Belgium in the class of 1967 and spent my year in
Charlottesville with the McLean family – an experience that
profoundly and positively marked my life. Indeed, I am still
extremely grateful to all those who made that year so unforgettable!
As a matter of fact, I still have very good contacts with my former
host-family, and in particular with my host-mom, Mrs Peggy McLean,
who – like my own mother here in Belgium, will hopefully celebrate
her 100th birthday this year! You will understand that for reasons
of time and distance I will not be able to attend the class reunion –
but my thoughts will be with my old (?) classmates; I wish you
success with the organization !  Warm greetings to you and to
all the members of the AMAZING class of 1967 !

September 12, 2022 Kay Steigman Crute (65) wrote: I will not be
attending the reunion on October 1st.  My first husband (Glen L.
Steigman (65) died Oct. 23, 1986.  I remarried in 1991 (Spencer Crute)
– after 31 years of marriage, Spencer  died April 26, 2022.  Glen &
I used to help plan the Class of ’65 reunions so I know the hard
work that goes into planning these events.  However, my heart
is just not into going this year.  Regards, Kay Steigman Crute

September 13, 2022 Linda BICKERS Ritter (62) wrote: I have just
put my response to you in mail today.  Was not sure we could get to
Virginia for the date but we can!! Yea!! Thanks for all the work you
guys are doing once again for us to enjoy!  So looking forward to it
now!! My former spouse passed away in July 2020  Paul Hamilton
Drinard graduated 1961. Thanks for all the help with the reunion!

September 14, 2022 Charlie FRANKEL (61) – I am sorry I am
unable to attend. Thanks to the committee members for their hard
work.

September 14, 2022 Bill Arnold (57) – I’m responding to the reunion
form in the negative as I wanted to update my mailing address for
your records and thank you all for your ongoing work to organize
and conduct the reunion and picnic. I would like to attend as we
are now closer-60 to Charlottesville and still able to travel.
However, I am apprehensive about being inside that large fire
hall for many hours with people from all over. We attended last
year and the chicken was as good as ever, but the Covid bug
is still a major consideration at our age. Hopefully, next year
will be better. Good luck with the event and good health to
all in attendance.

September 14, 2022 Roberta ISABELLE Harlowe (60) – Lane
closed and Bill’s (her husband, William Wade HARLOWE ’60
Fluvanna County High School) dad was building home in
Fluvanna. … Could the song be shown on overhead or copy at
each place?

September 14, 2022 Robert Winstead (55) – Thanks for your
work for us.

October 1, 2022 Bill McCauley (62) wrote: I regret that something
has come up that prevents me from joining you today. Darn it,
was really looking forward to seeing you and other old friends.
Please keep me on the email list for next year. Have a great
time today. Thanks for your work on this.

October 4, 2022 Mary Elaine PALUMBO Bickers (60) wrote:
Thank you! We both had a stomach bug. Hopefully we can
make it next year! Thanks for all you do to make this happen
every year!

October 4, 2022 Lauren DAVIS May (71) wrote:  Many thanks for
sending this. Unfortunately, my mother Faye MELTON Davis (50)
developed bronchitis last week and didn’t want others to think
her constant coughing was something else. She definitely was
hurt that she was unable to attend as she still fondly remembers
her days in the band. Please change her address to 3413 N.
Indian Springs Rd. Charlottesville, VA 22901 as the post office
box listed is my address. If you could kindly send the roster
for the class of 1971, I would so appreciate it. I would love to
touch base with a girlfriend that I haven’t seen in over 50
years. Best regards, Lauren Davis May ‘71

October 5, 2022 Tom Phillips (61) wrote: Thank you for a copy
of our roster. I’m sure keeping it up-to-date is a chore. Please
change my phone number to 804-314-1462 and add my wife
Thel. We couldn’t make the reunion due to the threat of wind
and high water. We live on the Rappahannock River not far
from the bay.

October 7, 2022 Sybil WILLIAMS Mahanes (58) wrote: Thanks
for the wonderful job on the multi class reunion. There are a
couple of people who have passed that are not on the deceased
list. My Sister Barbara Williams Frentress died 1-25-2013. (class
of 1956).  Also in my class of 1958, Dickie Miller passed, and
I don’t have a date for his passing.  Thanks again for all your
hard work.  I help with the  class of 1958 reunions, and I
also send out information to all our class with information
about passing classmates, etc.

December 1, 2022 Bobbie PAGE Mooney (52) and
Russell D. MOONEY (49) wrote: Russell and I are mostly
‘home-bound.’ We are still at 3050 Seminole Trail (old Rt. 29
North). We don’t have the big garden like we used to, but
we have a few veggies and we love getting the newsletters.
Thanks to all of you who work so hard keeping the
Reunions going!
